Guyanese-owned and operated information resource service, OilNOW, has once again been recognized for its coverage of developments in the country’s oil and gas industry. The organization secured an award at the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (GCCI) 136th Annual Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner held on December 11, 2025.

The latest award was presented by GCCI in recognition of OilNOW’s continued coverage of developments across the energy sector and related business activity. The ceremony was held at the Marriott Hotel in Georgetown and formed part of the Chamber’s long-standing annual awards program.

The accolade was handed over to OilNOW’s co-founder and Content Development Manager, Chris Chapwanya, by United States Ambassador to Guyana, Nicole D. Theriot.

“Winning the GCCI Media Award for a second time is a meaningful endorsement of OilNOW’s role in Guyana’s national conversation on energy and development,” Chapwanya said.

He added, “We are deeply honored. This award affirms our commitment to providing accurate, balanced, and meaningful coverage of Guyana’s evolving energy landscape. It also recognizes our agency’s work in scrutinizing policy, tracking industry performance, and promoting transparency as the country navigates one of the most consequential economic transformations in its history.”

OilNOW had first received the GCCI award at the Chamber’s 130th Annual Awards Ceremony in 2019, marking early recognition of its role in reporting on Guyana’s emerging oil and gas industry. In that same year, the publication was also recognized by Guyana’s Ministry of Natural Resources for its sector coverage.

Founded in 2017 to address the need for a dedicated, Guyanese-focused platform on oil and gas, OilNOW continues to provide coverage on developments, policy, and business activity linked to the country’s energy sector.

OilNOW also provides extensive coverage of the regional energy industry, with emphasis on Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Brazil, the Southern hemisphere’s largest oil producer.
