The drillship Stena Carron has completed 86 well operations offshore Guyana over nearly a decade, drilling a total of 241,358 meters, according to information from Stena Drilling published in the latest edition of Energy Magazine.
The vessel has operated in water depths of up to 2,938 meters and has supported exploration, appraisal, and development drilling since first arriving offshore Guyana in 2016.
“For nearly 10 years, the drillship Stena Carron has been a consistent presence off the coast of Guyana, supporting one of the world’s fastest-growing offshore oil provinces,” Stena Drilling said.

The company noted that the drillship’s operations in Guyana began with the Liza-2 discovery well in February 2016, a turning point in the development of the Stabroek Block.
“Across 10 years, Stena Carron has completed 86 well operations, drilling 241,358 meters — more than 240 kilometers beneath the seabed,” the report outlined.
Stena Drilling said the vessel has handled a wide range of work scopes. “The drillship has executed exploration wells, top-hole batch drilling, and extensive well testing, recently completing its 28th well test in Guyana,” the company added.

According to Stena Drilling, continuous technical upgrades and automation helped sustain drilling performance during periods of accelerated offshore activity. “These successes have underpinned Guyana’s rapid production growth and long-term energy development.”
Stena Drilling currently operates two rigs offshore Guyana alongside Noble Drilling’s fleet, supporting ExxonMobil’s exploration, appraisal, and development drilling activities.
