ExxonMobil Guyana and the Centre for Local Business Development are launching the highly anticipated Guyana Supplier Forum today at the Leonora Stadium (National Track and Field Facility), West Coast Demerara. The event will run until Wednesday.

On Monday, companies, among the largest in the world, were busy fixing their booths for the opening day.

Director of the Centre, Dr. Natasha Gaskin-Peters, told OilNOW last week that the organisation is excited to bring this forum back to its original in-person setting, and to Region 3.

As the first Supplier Forum to be held since Guyana fully reopened from the COVID-19 pandemic, over 1,000 attendees are expected per day.

The hosting of the event away from Guyana’s busy capital, Georgetown, is consistent with plans by the government to have development dispersed throughout the country.

The forum will show Guyanese suppliers the many opportunities available to them in Guyana’s offshore oil and gas sector, and in the massive Gas-to-Energy project, which is set to be developed in Region 3.

This is the first Supplier Forum to be held after the passing of Guyana’s groundbreaking local content legislation in December. Included in the exhibiting group are the Local Content Secretariat and the Ministry of Labour.

Other participants include key companies operating in the country on contract with Exxon such as SBM Offshore, Halliburton, Saipem, TechnipFMC, Baker Hughes, Schlumberger, and Guyana Shore Base Inc.

Both days of the event will feature presentations from these Prime Contractors. These companies will also be participating in an exhibition that will be running simultaneously with the presentations.

The public is invited to the exhibition on Day 2, which commences at 10:00 hrs.
