Blue Water Suriname, a subsidiary of global logistics company Blue Water, has announced the appointment of Gerson Sporkslede as its General Manager, signifying its readiness for full operations in the region. 

In a release on October 13, Blue Water said Sporkslede will lead the new office and will be assisted by a team of experienced local customs brokers and logistics experts.

Lucas Strom, Regional Director, Americas, expressed his delight with the appointment, highlighting Sporkslede’s extensive experience in Suriname’s logistics industry and his successful track record with global carriers. He emphasized that Sporkslede’s addition to the team brings valuable local and international expertise.

Blue Water said it has established three offices in the Caribbean region, including Georgetown, Guyana, and Port of Spain, Trinidad. It said these offices collectively provide logistics solutions and services to the entire region, leveraging Blue Water’s global network and extensive experience in international transport and logistics.

Blue Water’s Suriname office will focus on delivering transport and logistics solutions for the oil and gas, chemical, mining, and renewable energy sectors. Their services will encompass international freight forwarding, offshore and onshore logistics support, vessel agencies, customs brokerage, materials management, and custom IT solutions.

The company’s expansion into Suriname was driven by the recent discovery of additional oil fields in the region. Blue Water said it aims to replicate its successful operations in Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago, offering proven logistics solutions to meet the growing demand in Suriname.
