Enhancing Guyanese capacity remains at the forefront of Blue Water Shipping Guyana’s plans as the company received renewed approval for its Local Content Certification from the Local Content Secretariat.

The green light for Blue Water’s certification recognises the company’s efforts toward sustainable development in Guyana. Richard DeNobrega, Blue Water Guyana’s Senior Vice President – Sales & Development, proudly received the official endorsement from Dr Martin Pertab, Director of Local Content at the Ministry of Natural Resources.

“We greatly appreciate the acceptance, which underscores our commitment to Guyana. We are dedicated to developing local capacity, enhancing Guyana’s supply chain expertise, and ensuring stakeholder and customer satisfaction locally and globally,” DeNobrega commented.

The company has already plugged major funding into providing world-class training in logistics and supply chain management. Two young Guyanese – Dawn Gamell, 28, and Khemraj Samaroo, 23 – are the first to benefit. The two started training back in August 2022, when Blue Water launched its Guyana branch.

The training opportunity exists two-fold, starting with in-house training at Blue Water’s local office and then transitioning to one of its worldwide locations where an opportunity is presented to expand international experience and business network. Upon completion, they return to Georgetown to continue their career in the industry, bringing valuable knowledge back to Guyana.

The renewed approval of the company’s Local Content plan paves the way for it to continue pursuing sustainable growth and development in the country.
