ExxonMobil is the operator of Guyana’s Stabroek Block, where it holds a 45% stake alongside partners Hess Corporation (30%) and CNOOC (25%). The Block, estimated to contain nearly 11.6 billion barrels of recoverable resources, has seen rapid development since first oil in December 2019.
The company has invested more than US$50 billion across six sanctioned projects. Its seventh project, Hammerhead, was approved this year and will add about 150,000 barrels per day when production begins around 2029.
ExxonMobil now holds the largest contiguous acreage position in the Permian Basin after its 2024 acquisition of Pioneer Natural Resources. The company is targeting to grow Permian production to approximately 2.3 million barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2030, nearly double its current level.
