ExxonMobil Global Projects has selected Sercel’s Marlin software to support offshore installation activities for the Whiptail development in Guyana’s Stabroek Block.

Sercel said on August 4 that it received a one-year contract to deploy the platform. The software will help manage simultaneous operations during pipelay and mooring installation campaigns.
The Marlin platform provides a live, time-based geospatial view of concurrent offshore activities. This allows teams to monitor vessels and other assets while planning and coordinating work in an area with multiple operations.
The contract also covers system configuration, staff onboarding, operational reviews, and round-the-clock support.

“With offshore activity accelerating across Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and West Africa, our Marlin field-proven SIMOPS solution enables operators to better manage their most complex offshore developments,” Sercel Chief Executive Officer Jérôme Denigot said.
Whiptail is ExxonMobil’s sixth approved development in the Stabroek Block. The project’s estimated development cost is US$12.7 billion and will comprise up to 10 drill centers. It will also include 48 production and injection wells connected to the floating production, storage and offloading vessel through subsea infrastructure.
The Jaguar FPSO is designed to produce oil at 250,000 barrels per day (b/d). It will use SBM Offshore’s Fast4Ward® multipurpose hull design.
ExxonMobil has targeted first production from Whiptail by the end of 2027. The project is expected to raise Guyana’s offshore production capacity to more than 1.3 million b/d.
ExxonMobil operates the Stabroek Block with a 45% interest. Hess holds 30%, while CNOOC holds the remaining 25%.
