ExxonMobil Guyana will continue deepwater development operations at the Uaru and Whiptail fields in the Stabroek Block, supported by anchor handling tug (AHT) and firefighting vessels, according to Notices to Mariners issued on June 11.

The Maritime Administration Department said the Whiptail field operations are scheduled to conclude on July 31, 2026, and will involve the AHT/firefighting vessels Sea Sentosa and DB Maximus. The activity will be conducted offshore within Guyana’s exclusive economic zone, approximately 101.6 nautical miles from the coast.

A separate notice confirmed that similar operations will continue at the Uaru field over the same period, using AHT/firefighting vessels Boka Sherpa and DB TS 11.

The US$12.7 billion Uaru development is designed to produce up to 250,000 barrels per day from as many as 10 drill centers and 44 wells.

Japanese contractor MODEC is building the Errea Wittu floating production, storage and offloading vessel, which will process and store crude from the field. The vessel features efficiency and emissions controls, including a combined-cycle gas turbine power system and a closed-loop flare design.

Whiptail holds an estimated resource base of more than 850 million barrels, while Uaru is targeting around 800 million barrels.

ExxonMobil operates the Stabroek Block with a 45% interest, alongside Hess with 30% and CNOOC with 25%.
