Strategic Partner of the Inaugural Guyana International Petroleum Business Summit and Exhibition (GIPEX) – ExxonMobil Guyana – expects the event to play a key role in showcasing the South American Country of 750,000 people.
Speaking at the official launch of GIPEX 2018 on Wednesday, ExxonMobil Country Manager, Rod Henson, said the company ‘feels a special responsibility’ to support and participate in events such as GIPEX which will serve to showcase Guyana and open up opportunities for local businesses.
“We feel a special responsibility to share our experiences and to participate in these discussions. I am very proud to…walk hand-in-hand with Guyana as they join the community of oil producing nations,” he said.
The event, he pointed out, provides an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and networking which serves to help companies and showcase the country.
“They are really good topics in terms of safety, local content…and just generally how to do business in Guyana,” the Country Manager said.
ExxonMobil will be participating “in many different ways” Mr. Henson said, both as a company, as well as through entities such as the Centre for Local Business Development.
Already attracting in excess of 350 delegates from across the world, GIPEX 2018 will see
participation from former Premier of Alberta, Canada, Ms. Alison Redford (World Bank Group), Ms. Lisa Waters, Vice President, Americas, ExxonMobil Development Company, Dr. Suresh Narine, CGX Energy Inc., Mr. Stephen D. Cashin, Pan African Capital Group, Dr. Kase Lawal, CAMAC International Corporation, and several other speakers.
Some international companies slated for participation at GIPEX 2018 include Haliburton,
PricewaterhouseCoopers, Chevron, Repsol, Schlumberger, Petronas, Firecroft
Group, Cataleya Energy Limited, Vinci Energies Oil and Gas, and the National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited.
GIPEX 2018 will be held from February 7 to 9, 2018, at the Guyana Marriott Hotel.
