Saipem is in search of accommodation services in Guyana, on the West Bank of Demerara. The company is looking to place its personnel in apartments.

The apartments should be in the vicinity of the Vreed-en-hoop Shore Base (VEHSI) currently under construction. Saipem expects to accommodate its personnel in at least five fully furnished double bedroom apartments by November 2023, and progressively increasing to approximately 30 apartments by August 2024.

Director of VEHSI, Nicholas Deygoo-Boyer, says the shore base is expected to be completed for operation by December 2023. The facility is expected to serve Exxon’s Yellowtail project.

In adherence with Guyana’s Local Content Act 2021, the providers of the apartments must be Guyanese. The company must be registered on the official Local Content Register of the Ministry of Natural Resources. Saipem said companies that do not comply with the requirements of the Local Content Act should not submit an expression of interest.

Saipem has been most recently tasked with the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) for the Yellowtail project.

Yellowtail will be commissioned in 2025. It is expected to add 250,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude production to Guyana’s output, and will make the country the world’s largest oil producer per capita.
