The Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit and Exhibition (SEOGS) 2026 opens this week in Paramaribo, with organizers framing the event around a pivotal transition for the country: moving from major offshore discoveries toward full-scale development, project execution and long-term national value creation.

The four-day summit and exhibition will run from June 23-26 at Roeli’s Event Venue under the theme “Unlocking Energy, Empowering Nations.”

The program is preceded on June 22 by pre-summit activities, including delegate and exhibitor registration, a site visit, networking events, a Weatherford technology show, and a net environmental benefit analysis/spill impact mitigation assessment (NEBA/SIMA) workshop focused on response trade-offs and decision quality for spill preparedness.

SEOGS 2026 is hosted by Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V., with PETRONAS listed as strategic partner and TotalEnergies as principal partner. OilNOW is listed among the event’s official media partners.

According to the official program, the summit’s opening day will feature an opening ceremony and strategic addresses, including participation from Surinamese government officials and regional leaders. The program lists Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, President of the Republic of Suriname, for a host presidential address titled “Unlocking Energy, Empowering Nations.”

The opening day agenda also includes a ministerial plenary on “Energy as a Driver of National Transformation,” with discussions expected to cover energy security, sovereignty and development, the alignment of hydrocarbons with social and economic outcomes, and regional perspectives. A later executive plenary will focus on global energy markets and geopolitical realities, including capital competition, energy security, trade flows and the role of frontier and emerging basins.

The summit comes as Suriname’s offshore sector enters a more execution-focused phase. The SEOGS website says the 2026 programme will showcase “the next stage of development” and deliver market intelligence from industry leaders. It describes the country as being in a defining moment, following major offshore discoveries and progression toward first production.

On June 24, the executive summit will turn to oil, offshore development and project delivery, with sessions covering the Atlantic Basin, offshore exploration and development pathways, the GranMorgu project, project execution, national revenues and economic transformation. The programme also includes a technical conference running alongside the executive agenda, with sessions on health, safety, security and environment; gas, electricity and energy systems; supply chain management; and applied upstream and engineering topics.

Local content is also a central feature of SEOGS 2026. The Local Content Forum will address education for an offshore economy, supplier registration and qualification, procurement transparency, standards, workforce integration, financing, expatriate expertise and local workforce development. The official website says that as Suriname moves into the development phase, empowering local businesses, strengthening workforce skills and building partnerships between international operators and domestic suppliers will be central to long-term success.

On June 25, the executive program will focus on gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG), including regional energy integration, gas monetization, infrastructure, investment, industrial development, ports, shorebases and marine logistics. The technical conference will include sessions on marine spill preparedness, energy supply and demand outlook, upstream exploration, LNG and FLNG infrastructure, and deepwater exploration.

The final day, June 26, will focus on environment, sustainability, ESG (environmental, social and governance), carbon markets, innovation and youth entrepreneurship. Sessions will examine responsible natural resource development, ESG and investor expectations, carbon markets, nature-based solutions, energy transition, digitalization, project execution, port operations, permitting and risk mitigation.

A Youth, Entrepreneur and Innovation Fair is also planned, including fireside discussions with ministers, student spotlights, career-focused panels, a careers fair and an energy innovation challenge.

The exhibition is expected to remain a major draw. The official SEOGS website describes the expo as a regional and international platform for Suriname and the wider Caribbean’s energy sectors, with more than 250 exhibitors, more than 12,000 visitors, over 4,000 square meters of exhibition space, and products, services and technologies on display.

For Suriname, SEOGS 2026 is positioned not only as an industry gathering but as a forum for decisions that could shape how offshore development translates into jobs, supplier opportunities, infrastructure, energy security and long-term economic transformation.
