Oil and gas engineering firm TechnipFMC has been awarded a large contract to provide the subsea production system for ExxonMobil Guyana’s Uaru project. The contract covers the supply of 44 subsea trees, 12 manifolds, and associated equipment.

This is the fifth award that TechnipFMC has received within the Stabroek block, and the first project by ExxonMobil to utilise the company’s Subsea 2.0™ system. The system uses a configure-to-order model that allows for faster delivery times and is designed to streamline subsea operations, Technip said in a May 2 announcement.

As part of the contract, TechnipFMC will provide project management, engineering, and manufacturing services to deliver the subsea production system for Uaru – Guyana’s fifth Stabroek Block development.

Jonathan Landes, President of Subsea at TechnipFMC, expressed pride in the company’s ongoing relationship with ExxonMobil and its affiliates in Guyana and said that the award would support the continued employment and training of local staff.

TechnipFMC is one of several oil and gas companies that have been involved in exploration and production activities in the Stabroek block. The region has seen a significant uptick in activity in recent years, and is considered a major new frontier for the industry.

The US$12.7 billion Uaru project will include up to 10 drill centers and 44 production and injection wells aimed at developing an estimated resource of more than 800 million barrels of oil. Uaru will push investments in projects offshore Guyana over the US$40 billion-dollar mark

MODEC is constructing the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Uaru project – Errea Wittu.
