International companies and investors at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2026 examined opportunities tied to several sectors in Guyana, according to GCCI Senior Vice President Gavin Ramsoondar.
Ramsoondar spoke to OilNOW about the discussions following Guyana’s participation at the conference in Houston, Texas.
An important takeaway, he said, was “the transition of Guyana’s oil and gas sector into a more mature phase… Discussions are now moving beyond discovery into long-term infrastructure, fabrication, maintenance, downstream opportunities, energy integration and industrial development.”
He said discussions at the conference were not limited to oil production activities.

“The conversations extended beyond exploration and production and included areas such as logistics, construction, manufacturing, hospitality, professional services, agriculture, infrastructure, energy support services and financing,” Ramsoondar stated.
According to Ramsoondar, investors are also assessing opportunities connected to Guyana’s economy outside the energy sector.
“There is strong global interest in Guyana not only because of oil production, but because investors now see Guyana as a broader economic opportunity,” he added.
Ramsoondar said GCCI facilitated engagement between local businesses and international companies, investors, suppliers, financiers and technology providers during the conference.
“International stakeholders are increasingly looking for strong Guyanese partners who understand the local environment and can provide reliable support services,” he remarked.
He also referenced discussions about Guyana supporting opportunities elsewhere in the region, adding “Many stakeholders see Guyana serving not only its own market, but potentially supporting opportunities across the Caribbean and northern Brazil.”
OTC is regarded as one of the world’s premier offshore energy conferences, bringing together industry leaders, service companies, investors and government officials to discuss developments shaping the global energy sector.
