ExxonMobil Guyana is set to continue its search for more oil off the coast of the South American country this week in a new foray at the Pacora prospect located some 4 miles from the Payara discovery.
A notice published by the Maritime Administration Department states that ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited (EEPGL) will commence a three-month drill programme at the Pacora-1 well site located in the Stabroek Block, on January 25.
To date, ExxonMobil’s 6 discoveries in the Stabroek Block amount to approximately 3.2 billion recoverable oil-equivalent barrels.
Six vessels will be part of the fleet aiding in the exploration activities at the Pacora prospect, located 107 nautical miles off the Guyana coast. These include the M/V Dante, HOS Commander, M/V Hannah Chouest, M/V Cat Isalnd and the Stena Carron drill ship. The search will cover an area of 0.6 square miles (1 square kilometer).
On January 5 ExxonMobil announced its 6th discovery in Guyana at the Ranger-1 well adding to previous world-class discoveries at Liza, Payara, Snoek, Liza Deep and Turbot. The company said at the time additional exploration drilling is planned on the Stabroek Block for 2018, including potential appraisal drilling at the Ranger discovery.
Stabroek Block: Exploration Highlights
The Stabroek Block is 6.6 million acres (26,800 square kilometers). Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited is operator and holds 45 percent interest in the Stabroek Block. Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd. holds 30 percent interest and CNOOC Nexen Petroleum Guyana Limited holds 25 percent interest.
