The upcoming 3rd Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit & Exhibition (SEOGS) scheduled for June 19 to 22, 2023 in Paramaribo, Suriname, is generating significant attention and participation from both regional and global players. Regional ministers from Trinidad and Tobago, the Dominican Republic, and Guyana, along with representatives from the United States (US) Department of State, have confirmed their attendance, underscoring the increasing regional and global significance of Suriname’s emerging energy and offshore sector.
SEOGS 2023 is set to be the largest and most comprehensive edition yet. A highlight of this year’s event is the introduction of a much larger exhibition hall, Hall 2, providing a platform for industry stakeholders to showcase their offerings and forge partnerships. The summit program will be expanded, featuring strategic discussions between regional ministers and their Surinamese counterparts.

The country is still awaiting a decision from TotalEnergies, operator of the offshore Block 58. Hope is that it will come by 2023’s end. The last update from Total was that the company successfully combined two discoveries to create a pool of around 500+ million barrels of oil. The first two appraisal wells of these discoveries have been positive, and with the last oil well soon to be drilled, the company is hopeful that it will reach 600-650 million barrels of oil. Once this milestone is reached, Total said it will be ready to move to the next stage of development.
