Dredging activities continue in the vicinity of Guyana’s Demerara main ship channel and off the West Coast of Demerara around Plantation Best to support the Vreed-en-Hoop Shore Base Project (VEHSI).
A notice from the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) outlined that the exercise is expected to conclude on Dec. 31, 2023, and covers an area of 34.74 square nautical miles (119.2 square kilometres).
A VEHSI spokesperson confirmed to OilNOW on Thursday that additional dredging activities are underway.

It incorporates the use of the Special Service Water Injection Dredger Henri Pitot vessel owned by VEHSI partner Jan De Nul out of Belgium.
Vreed-en-Hoop Shore Base Inc. (VESHI) forms part of the Port of Vreed-en-Hoop and is meant to be the special-purpose vehicle to serve ExxonMobil’s Yellowtail project.
The first phase of the project is expected to be delivered by December 2023.
