Guyana’s hospitality industry is experiencing significant growth in tandem with its booming oil and gas sector, resulting in a surge of internationally branded hotels being constructed in and around the nation’s capital, Georgetown – the epicenter of the oil and gas industry.
The hotels scheduled for construction this year are poised to add substantial room capacity to the country’s accommodation infrastructure, bolstering Guyana’s appeal as a destination for both business and leisure travelers.

Here’s what to expect:
- Four Points by Sheraton Hotel at Houston, East Bank Demerara.
- Hyatt Place Hotel at Providence, East Bank Demerara.
- AC Marriot Hotel at Ogle, East Coast Demerara near the Eugene F Correia International Airport.
- Pasha Global Hotel at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara.
- Best Western Hotel at Liliendaal Seafront, East Coast Demerara.
- Courtyard by Marriot at Timehri, five minutes away from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
- Radisson Blu Hotel next to the Giftland Mall at Liliendaal.
Additionally, King’s Hotel and Residence has commenced construction on its second structure at the corner of Quamina and Waterloo street. This will add 60 additional rooms to its inventory. The local Herdmanston Lodge will also be adding more rooms.

A new Sleepin branded hotel will also be constructed on Brickdam Street.
The Aiden, Sleepin, Marriott Courtyard, and Four Points under Marriott Hotels are all slated to be completed between March and December of 2023. The other hotels in the pipeline are expected to open their doors between March and September 2024.
It is estimated that by 2025, Guyana will require approximately 2,000 additional rooms to accommodate the influx of visitors and investors. These hotels will contribute to a total room capacity currently exceeding 1,200, helping to satisfy this burgeoning demand.
And the presence of internationally branded hotels is expected to enhance the country’s image and encourage further investment and tourism in the years to come.
