ExxonMobil Guyana is set to continue 3D/4D seismic survey operations at the offshore Stabroek Block, beginning April 20.

Guyana’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) said the exercise is set to conclude on December 31.

The survey will incorporate the use of five support vessels – the Seismic Survey Vessel Sanco Spirit; OSV Moonrise G; MPV Rem Saltire; Seismic Support Vessel 7 Oceans and OSV Atlantic Spirit.

MARAD’s April 19 notice said the survey area is located approximately 85.58 nautical miles (158.0 kilometers) off the Coast of Guyana and covers an area of 2527.25 square nautical miles (8668.23 square kilometers).

In December last year, Exxon was on the hunt for a firm to process the data obtained from the survey ahead of its planned multi-well campaign in the Stabroek Block. On request from Guyana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Exxon was required to conduct a Cumulative Impact Assessment (CIA)

Since 2015, Exxon has found over 11 billion barrels of oil equivalent resources at the Stabroek Block with the success rate for hitting pay exceeding 80%.

Company officials have said resources in the Guyana basin could be double that which has already been found. The world-class discoveries at Stabroek have placed Guyana at number 17 on a list of 20 countries for the highest oil reserves in the world.
