Petrobras and Seatrium are preparing the P-80 and P-82 offshore platforms to leave Singapore for Brazil, with both units now in the final stage of module integration ahead of planned production in 2027, Petrobras said on August 27.
The companies held a christening and sailaway ceremony on August 27 at Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore. Both platforms will be deployed in the Búzios field in the pre-salt area of Brazil’s Santos Basin.
P-80, also known as Búzios 9, will be the first unit to leave the shipyard in the coming weeks. The two platforms are scheduled to begin production in 2027.

Each platform can produce up to 225,000 barrels of oil per day and process 12 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. Petrobras said this places the units among the highest-capacity production platforms in the global industry.
“These are two giant platforms for our giant Búzios field. They are part of a new cycle of six high-production-capacity units, which began with the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, operating in Búzios above its design capacity, with record production of 270,000 barrels of oil per day,” Petrobras President Magda Chambriard said during the Singapore ceremony.
The platforms will also use digital technologies and other solutions aimed at improving operational and energy efficiency.
Petrobras contracted the platforms under an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning model. Under the arrangement, the contractor is responsible for the units through delivery for operation in Brazil.

Construction involved facilities in Brazil, China, Singapore and Indonesia. Process modules for P-80 were manufactured at Seatrium’s BrasFELS shipyard in Angra dos Reis, while P-82’s process modules were built at Seatrium’s Aracruz shipyard in Espírito Santo.
Petrobras said the work in Brazil supported workforce training and qualification while generating employment and income through the country’s shipbuilding industry.
