Modern American Recycling Services Europe, A/S (MARS) said it was awarded a major EU Green Recycling contract for the retirement of SBM Offshore’s Capixaba floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

The contract includes engineering, preparation, dismantling and green recycling of the unit. FPSO Capixaba is expected to arrive at M.A.R.S., Europe yard in the Port of Frederikshavn, end of 2023 – early 2024.

The vessel has operated in the Cachalote field in Campos basin offshore Brazil for 12 years. It operated in the Golfinho field before that, in the Espirito Santo basin.

FPSO Capixaba is 362 metres (m) long, with a Light Displacement Tonnage of 54.656 megatonnes (Mt).
