Kosmos Energy’s Ensco DS-12 drillship is on location approximately 17 km east of the Guyana-Suriname maritime boundary in its new search for hydrocarbons at the Pontoenoe-1 prospect on Block 42 offshore Suriname.

OilNOW understands the Ensco DS-12 arrived on location on August 10. The vessel will be drilling in water depths of 2,360 meters. The drilling exercise is scheduled to conclude by October 15.

The well is the first of three wells on independent prospects on the block and is a similar play type to the Turbot and Longtail discoveries made by ExxonMobil and its partners on the prolific Stabroek block offshore Guyana.

Kosmos operates Block 42 on 33.33% and is joined by US supermajor Chevron and US independent Hess.
