Qualco’s Supply, East Bank Demerara base was used primarily for fabrication services and rope access training. But the new collaboration will see it offering onshore and offshore support services ranging from flange management/torquing services to non-destructive examination (NDE) inspections.

Its training facility will also expand to include welding and fabrication, blasting and painting and scaffolding courses for locals.

Phase I of Qualco’s operations (the training school) saw US$2.5 million already invested in Guyana. Phase II will see the construction of a larger base with an estimated US$4 million to be invested.

According to documents seen by OilNOW, over 100 jobs will be created.

Qualco Guyana was established in 2019 on the wave of massive discoveries being made offshore the South American country at the ExxonMobil-operated Stabroek Block. Operations were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the company has been forging ahead with plans. The company also recently copped its Local Content Certificate from the Ministry of Natural Resources.
