The extension was announced by Martin Cheong, General Manager of SBM Offshore, in a May 19 LinkedIn post.

“We are pleased to share that the application deadline for our Trainee Technician program has been extended to May 31. Apply now to start your career with SBM Offshore,” Cheong wrote.

SBM Offshore operates several floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels in Guyana’s Stabroek Block, where production continues to expand through projects led by ExxonMobil.

SBM said the program targets four key disciplines: Production (Operation), Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Electrical, with an additional focus on cargo operations linked to FPSO vessels operating offshore.

The initiative combines classroom instruction, practical exercises, and structured evaluations designed to prepare participants for offshore work environments.

The company said the program emphasizes safety, technical competence, teamwork and operational readiness as part of its effort to build local capacity for Guyana’s offshore industry.

Candidates with technical or engineering diplomas or degrees are also eligible to apply. SBM Offshore also requires at least two years of relevant experience in the discipline being pursued.
