ExxonMobil Guyana will continue development drilling at the Uaru Project’s UA_3P08 drill center in the Stabroek Block as work advances on one of Guyana’s largest sanctioned offshore developments.

The development drilling campaign, according to a recent notice from the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD), is being carried out by the Noble Sam Croft and is scheduled to conclude on April 30, 2026.

The UA_3P08 drill center is located about 101.3 nautical miles, or 187.6 kilometers, off Guyana’s coast in the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone. It covers approximately 0.29 square nautical miles, or one square kilometer.

Uaru is a US$12.7 billion development targeting more than 800 million barrels of recoverable oil. The project will comprise up to 10 drill centers and 44 wells and is designed to reach peak production of 250,000 barrels per day (b/d).

Data from S&P Global Commodity Insights indicate that production from Uaru could start at roughly 136,000 b/d in July 2026 and ramp up to about 215,000 b/d by 2027.

Japanese contractor MODEC is constructing the Errea Wittu floating production, storage and offloading vessel for the project. The vessel will handle processing and storage for the field. The Guyana government has highlighted efficiency and emissions controls in the vessel’s design, including power from a combined-cycle gas turbine and a closed-loop flare system to limit operational emissions.

Uaru is expected to add another large volume stream to Guyana’s offshore output once production begins. That matters for the country’s wider production outlook, as Guyana is expected to move past one million b/d after Uaru comes on stream, with output supported by multiple developments in the Stabroek Block.

ExxonMobil operates the Stabroek Block with a 45% interest, alongside Hess with 30% and CNOOC with 25%.
