Western Logistics Guyana Inc. announced has achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification.

ISO 9001:2015 is an international standard dedicated to a quality management system. This consists of principles of customer focus, leadership, engagement of people, process approach, improvement, evidence-based decision-making, and relationship management.

In its Feb. 7 announcement, Western Logistics said it engaged with the Centre for Local Business Development’s (CLDB) HSSE Mentorship Program, leading up to the external audit by Equal Assurance, the certifying body.

Western’s main offerings that fall within the scope of the ISO certification include vessel management services (including crew change and immigration assistance); custom brokerage services (including cargo management, ship spares and monitoring); meet and greet services; managing work permits and processing visa applications including entry visas on arrival (EVOA); procurement, ship and rig chandlery services; vessel importing and exporting and managing vessel in-water activity permits.

Western Logistics said obtaining the ISO 9001:2015 certification is a testament its commitment to implementing and maintaining a top-quality management system, that consistently meets and exceeds the requirements and expectations of operators, tier-one contractors and others participating in Guyana’s oil and gas sector.

It was the first logistics company to have its five-year Local Content Master Plan approved by the Ministry of Natural Resources last year. The locally owned and operated logistics firm is looking to hire at least 200 Guyanese to work offshore every year, for five years.

The company has been operating in Guyana since 2017. Western’s service offerings include ground transport, immigration/work permit services, custom brokerage, chandlery services for ships and rigs, warehousing, procurement, and even medical services.
