Shearwater Geoservices has been awarded a contract to carry out a large 3D seismic acquisition program for ExxonMobil Trinidad and Tobago Deepwater Limited, as the U.S. major advances exploration plans offshore Trinidad and Tobago.

The deepwater survey will cover about 6,000 square kilometers of full-fold area. Acquisition is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026 and take about five months.

In a press statement today, January 15, Shearwater said its high-capacity streamer vessel, the Amazon Warrior, will undertake the work using its multi-component Isometrix streamer technology. The company said the project “will deliver high-quality seismic data to support future planned exploration activities in the area.”

The award aligns with guidance from Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, which said last year that ExxonMobil expects to begin its seismic survey as early as February.

ExxonMobil was awarded the TTUD-1 Block last year and signed a production-sharing contract with the government of Trinidad and Tobago in August. The company is pursuing an accelerated work programme.

Trinidad and Tobago has been seeking to revive offshore exploration, including in ultra-deepwater areas, as part of efforts to attract new investment and strengthen future oil and gas production.
